Last week, the Digital Signage Expo announced that they will be bringing their show to Europe and joining Viscom in Germany in October 2009. There have been significant advances in the digital signage market in Europe recently, for instance when NEC, Philips, IBM, Invidis Consulting, Neo Advertising, Minicom and ECE Flatmedia joined forces to form the European OVAB.
Dirk Hülsermann, Chairman of OVAB Europe has said that “the market for digital exterior advertising is growing fast in Western Europe, an average of 32 percent yearly CAGR). This means net advertising sales with digital exterior advertising will quadruple by 2012 – from 158 Million Euros (2007) to 626 Million Euros in 2012.“
As popular as Digital Signage Expo is in America, their choice to join Viscom is a wise one; they should be commended for not adding another show to the already saturated market or trying to re-invent the wheel.
Viscom 2009 is taking place in Germany on October 1 -3, at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Center. Last year Viscom was attended by 14,649 professionals (+15% vs 2006), had 35% new exhibitors, 19,000 m² of exhibition space, 76 countries represented, a cycle of 12 conferences with 60 speakers, 531 conference participants (+8% vs 2007), and 88 international journalists
