Sumeet Prakash & Prateek Jaswant, Emarson India

This week the Minicom Interview spoke to Sumeet Prakash and Prateek Jaswant of Emarson India. We thought it would be a good idea to speak to them and get a first hand account of digital signage in India.
The Delhi-based company has been in business for around 12 years. New to the digital signage industry, its roots are in network and system integration.

Minicom Blog: Hi Sumeet and Prateek. Thank you for joining us.
Emarson India: Our pleasure.

MB: What is the digital signage landscape like in India?
EI: It is still emerging and finding its feet as well as its identity. To different people it means something different. According to their perspective, digital signage could represent Out of Home TV, retail advertising or a source of information.

MB: It’s been a few months since the digital signage event in India. With the benefit of a few months hindsight, how do you judge the event?
EI: It brought everyone together which was fantastic. The established networks and those who help them were there as well as some independent people.

MB: Was there a pick-up in activity following the show?
EI: Yes – quite significantly. Not just with us but with others as well. At the airports in India you see a lot of digital signage and its also becoming very prominent in hotels and at railway stations.

MB: Are there any issues to be sorted out with the digital signage industry in India?
EI: There is some disorganization in terms of brands and many overseas companies aren’t represented in India. There are very few structured solutions, but we are very optimistic about what lies ahead.

MB: Thank you for joining us.
EI: No problem.
