This week we speak to Minicom President & CEO, Eli Sasson, who has just returned from India where he attended Screen Media India.

Minicom Blog: Hi Eli. Thanks for joining us.
Eli Sasson: My pleasure.
MB: How was the show in India?
ES: It was very good. It was only the one day so there wasn’t the chance to get tired as you tend to do at the shows which last a whole week. Also because there were only around 150 people in attendance, it was more like the old days where the shows were more intimate and you really had a chance to talk with people.
MB: Apparently there were some interesting discussions?
ES: Yes. All segments of the market were present and what was most interesting was the interaction between the media agencies and the network owners. The network owners would like the media agencies to allocate part of their clients’ media budget to digital signage while the media agencies would like metrics and measurement of digital signage to be standardized. To date, media agencies haven’t been so active in shows such as this and it was nice to hear what their perspective is. With so many pieces in the puzzle, communication between the pieces is vital for there to be successful deployments.
MB: Minicom was there alongside Emarson..
ES: Yes they were our local partners. We shared a booth where we showcased the DS Vision™ 3000 and the Dual Cascade Receiver Long. We were one of the few international companies at the show to already be partnering an Indian company. Emarson has already implemented the Minicom solution at a number of installations and we are looking forward to a productive relationship together.
MB: You moderated one of the discussions. How did that go?
ES: It went well. It was titled The technology perspective. The major highlight to emerge from it was the better understanding between the technology providers and the network operators. The network owners expect the technology providers to give them peace of mind, efficiency, reduced TCO and value for money. Another thing to emerge was that the industry would like to see technology providers under-promising while over-delivering. The panel also discussed the new technologies which will make digital media even more attractive in the future.
MB: Thanks for your time Eli.
ES: My pleasure.
