Today the Minicom Interview speaks with André Rocheleau. André might not be such a celebrity in the English speaking world but he is somewhat of a superstar in the French speaking world where he looks after the leading digital signage Dueze blog.

He has twenty years experience in the world of communication via radio, poster campaigns, magazines, newspapers, etc. Since beginning at Quebec-Micro in 1995 which is a monthly magazine, his passion for the computer and news technology soon equaled his passion for publicity. Recently he has developed the clientele for MSI, the first measure service in real time. Presently, he is engaged in the development of the first 300 clients of a small business corporation for a new company involved in software electronic business (b2b). He is fully equipped at home with hardware and software allowing him to do pertinent research for his work and be able to exploit new technologies.

Minicom Blog: Hi Andre.
André Rocheleau: Thanks for having me.

MB: How did you get into digital signage?
AR: I was working in radio advertising but one day I saw some digital signage advertising in a Montreal subway and fell in love with it. The company I was working for at the time wasn’t interested in getting into digital signage though so I started by myself.

MB: How was that?

AR: Well. We had customers who had the money to invest not just in the screens burt the content. Too many people here are trying to sell computers and screens with no attention paid to content.

MB: How is the blog doing?
AR: Incredibly well. I started it 15 months ago and the response has been amazing. People are contacting me from all over the world. They ask me all the technical questions they need answered.


MB: Where do you see the digital signage industry heading? What new trends or technology?
AR: I believe for the next step is gone to be a joint venture between the majors broadcaster and content producer. Also all the stuff will be available on the srceen in the point of sales, and also on the website.

MB: What don’t you like to see in digital signage?

AR: The weather or the news or the sports channel on the screen. Its stupid and there is no respect for the user. There is no use for it.

MB: Which blogs do you like to go to find out about what is happening in digital signage?
