Digital Signage Expo Day I

By David M. Haar – Vice President of Sales, Minicom

Digital Signage Expo kicked off with a New Products Reception held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Tuesday night. Over 20 vendors showcased new products at this trade show for the emerging Digital Signage marketplace.

The trade show floor at the navy pier was crowded with attendees from retail, hospitality, corporate and government sectors from all over the world. Many of the exhibitors products are focused on the management and control of content.

There are some new companies working their way into this space including an innovative start up called Sidewalk Digital. Their approach to the space is internally referred to as Digital Signage for dummies.

Other companies were highlighting their integration and deployment capabilities in assisting partners in launching both small and large digital signage projects.

Attendees are either looking for assistance with putting the various pieces of the digital signage puzzle together or have their own solutions that utilize the technology involved with Digital Signage, including graphic cards, player, distribution systems and screens. I think that they are generally getting the information they need or at least the direction in which to look for solving their problem of delivering their message – whether retail oriented or information based.

This venue is being perceived by many of the exhibitors as a very good place to meet and exchange ideas with both perspective customers and partners within the Digital Signage world.
